Biography

Chinese violinist Liwen Sha was born in 1993.He began learning violin at the age of four and was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music at ten.His talent was recognized by the renowned Chinese violin pedagogue Prof. Lina Yu, under whose guidance he continued his studies until 2017, during this period, he also studied with two renowned Chinese violinists,Prof. Zhijiong Wang and Prof. Mengla Huang. Since then, he has been living and performing in Shanghai. 
In 2022, Liwen moved to Switzerland, where he currently studies under the Dutch violinist Professor Rudolf Koelman at the University of the Arts in Zürich. 
He has gained further musical inspiration from master classes with professors such as Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Lewis Kaplan, Takashi Shimizu, Nam Yun Kim, Hyo Kang, Pierre Amoyal, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Bogdan Božović, Sadao Harada and Koichiro Harada. He is very passionate about chamber music, studying under Prof.Cobus Swanepoel and masterclasses with The Trio Jean Paul, he performs chamber music in Switzerland with Swiss cellist Carla Keller, Swiss cellist Orfeo Mandozzi, Swedish pianist Vilhelm Moqvist, Polish violinist Mateusz Szczepkowski and Georgian pianist Temo Natobidze. In Zurich, he is an artist of the Opus classical music projects and also a member of the Swiss Musicians’ Union Section Zurich.

As a violinist, he has performed in various places such as Ensemble Epoch,The Neo-Classical Chamber Orchestra,Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, Swiss Festival Orchestra,The Ensemble Arc-en-Ciel, Zhdk Strings and Silkroad Chamber Soloists.
As a member in the orchestra, he has performed at the United Nations in New York,Theaters on the Bay in Singapore, Suntory Concert Hall in Tokyo,National Theater and Concert Hall in Taipei, Tonhalle Zürich, China's most important concert halls, and more.  Liwen is also an honored recipient of scholarships from the Seiji Ozawa Academy and Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival in Japan in 2016-2017. In his free time, he studies jazz violin with Rainer Hagmann and Baroque style performance with Valeria Jegorova Robinson,he enjoys photography and sports.
